A Rainbow Room

It took a trip to Disney shortly after her third birthday to get my daughter interested in getting out of her crib.  Yes, at three, she was still in a crib with all the rails up.  The hotel that we stayed at in Disney had a bed that folded down from the wall that was only a few inches from the ground and had a gorgeous mural of Lilo and Stitch.  She loved it!

So on our return, we made the transition from the crib to a toddler bed.  That lasted a few months until she started asking for a bed as big as ours.  We talked about it with her for a few weeks to make sure she was ready and when we felt she was going to stay in her bed and not try to climb in ours every night, I sat her in front of a computer to pick out the theme for her new big girl room.

We scrolled through various websites.  While I tried my hardest to steer her in certain directions, she wanted all the rainbows!

This was the bed she fell in love with and couldn't stop talking about.  I did not like the duvet cover (it's an eighties theme and more modern than I would have liked), but we did end up with the blanket!

I decided that we would do a pretty white duvet.  I know what you are thinking.  White in a kids room?  Savanna has rules on what she is allowed to do where and it's never been a problem.  From an early age, we established that the bedroom is for sleeping so food and other dangerous toys (like markers or play dough) don't make it into her room.  Plus, it can always be washed!

I just fell in love with how pretty and how girly this white duvet cover was and had to have it.  Now, if she ever gets tired of her rainbow room, it's a much easier fix!  Change a blanket and some pillows, and good to go!

And of course, Savanna's favorite thing to pick out where the throw pillows!  We ended up selecting four different ones.  The gray rainbow pillow you saw in the first picture above, plus these three:

We are almost done with the room.  Putting some of the last touches on the walls with some custom prints from Life with Peanut of course as well as some of our other favorite shops.  I can't wait to give you a tour when it is all done!
